The (Ill) Body is alive, vocal, sonorous, productive.
Ill Behaviour’s sonic universe deconstructs auscultations and listens in on the body. Built from recorded, processed and live samples of bodily sounds, the 45 minute entropic soundscape is assembled with extended vocal techniques and movement.
An interdisciplinary performance exploring the somatic and visceral experience of a body turned inside out, Ill Behaviour plays with qualia, the collective clinical, and moves through horror and discomfort to reach for tenderness and reciprocity.
In collaboration with XUE, Ill Behaviour treads the shifting line between tenderness and horror, body and self through sound and movement. Blending movement, experimental music, materia and multimedia, Ill Behaviour asks: what does it sound like to be alive? When you listen in, do you like what you hear? What does it mean to listen to and care for our, and other’s bodies?
Note: In this work, the audience is invited to participate in embodying the labour of care through
the practice of deep inward listening and encounters with the performative body. Comfortable, dark coloured clothing is advised.
